We understand that you are at our office to be evaluated for a heart condition; however we feel there are some general health principles that apply to everyone.
- DO NOT SMOKE
- ALCOHOL This should be one to two drinks a day. If you do not drink alcohol then do not start for health reasons.
- MAINTAIN A RESONABLE WEIGHT; maintain your weight in the BMI (Body mass Index) 22-25 range. We will calculate your BMI on your visit.
- EXERCISE on a regular basis. 30 to 40 minutes of brisk walking most days of the week.
- PROPER NUTRITION. Your food should supply the right amount of energy with the right fats, carbohydrates and protein along with essential nutrients.
- MIND ISSUES It has become increasingly clear that your state of mind has a bearing on your outcome from disease. Do not ignore your feelings!

The pioneering partnership between the Windward Heart Center and Pilates Training Center Hawaii is specifically designed with cardiac patients in mind.
Pilates Training Center Hawaii, convieniently located in the same building as Windward Heart, teaches the STOTT PILATES® method which is considered to be the "Ivy League" school of Pilates.
The studio owner, Jayme Newhouse, offers training for instructors as well as group classes, private sessions, physical therapy, and therapeutic massage.
