Heart Attack

A Heart Attack occurs when there is lack of blood flow to the heart. This can lead to heart muscle damage and/or death due to a lack of oxygen as oxygen is transported in the blood.

The damaged muscle tissue may be replaced with scar tissue and the effects of this can be permanent. Heart Attacks are most commonly caused by CAD and are linked to other conditions such as CHF.

Symptoms of a heart attack include chest pain or discomfort; upper body pain in the arms, back, neck, or jaw; pain in the stomach; shortness of breath; fainting or lightheadedness; cold sweats; and nausea.
